St Mary’s is a vibrant and growing church right in the heart of Ballybeen estate on the edge of East Belfast. We are part of the Church of Ireland diocese of Down and Dromore which is led by Bishop Harold Miller. St Mary’s was planted into the new estate of Ballybeen in the mid-1960s from St Elizabeth’s, the historic Church of Ireland parish in Dundonald. The rector of St Elizabeth’s at that time was Canon Herbie Frizelle, who had a vision to see a thriving Church of Ireland congregation serving the needs of this massive new housing estate.
50 years later, Canon Frizelle’s vision is our reality. Our church family is made up of a diverse group of people, many of whom live in Ballybeen and others who live in the wider Dundonald area or even further afield. However, one thing we all share , and that is a passionate desire to see lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom of God grow both in and through our church.
We’d love you to join us on Sundays at 11am or 7pm.
