1. Our Mission Statement
Looking Up Reaching Out
2. Our Vision
Our mission in St.Mary’s focuses us in two directions – upwards to God and outwards to the world. This dual focus reminds us of the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the cross and is a direct response to both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission of Jesus.
In fulfilling this mission, our vision is to be a church where people really meet Jesus – through worship, through prayer, through the teaching and application of the Scriptures and importantly through each other. We believe that our first calling is to be looking up and pursue the presence of God.
As a result of this we are changed and God allows us to catch a glimpse of the world through his eyes. Our focus now shifts towards the community in which the Lord has placed us and to the world beyond, and our vision is to be a church that actively reaches outwards. Our desire is that in reaching out we pursue the purpose of God for us and are willing and available to see that purpose fulfilled through us.
3. Our Core Values
We share life
- We seek to share our life as a church with one another and with all who come, regardless of who they are.
- We seek to share life’s joys and sorrows pastorally, prayerfully and practically.
- We seek to share our resources -material and human, through compassion, generosity and partnership
We discover life
- We seek to enable others to discover life in Jesus through evangelistic and compassionate ministry that is focused on the outsider.
- We seek to discover more of the life God has for us by intentionally growing in our faith, by being open to the Holy Spirit and by serving in ministry.
We live life
- We seek to live lives that are dependent on God – expressed through worship, prayer and being nourished by His Word.
- We seek to live transparent lives, consistent in our words and actions, in public and in private, in the home, in our places of work or study, and in church.
- We seek to live life in such a way that reflects Jesus – not judgemental, not legalistic, but welcoming, embracing, encouraging and serving.
