SUMMARY:1-Year Diocesan Bible Course
DESCRIPTION:This course is for Christians at any stage on their journey with God who want to know more about the Bible and how it relates to their lives. No prior theological knowledge or qualifications are needed! It will be particularly useful if you have responsibility for teaching the Bible as Sunday School teachers\, youth group leaders\, small group leaders\, evangelists\, church planters or lay readers. This course will lay a foundation for further theological training if desired. \nWe will meet on Wednesday evenings in St Mary’s Ballybeen\, Craigleith Drive\, Ballybeen\, BT16 2RYfrom 7.30-9.30pm (including a coffee break). \nParking available. Each module will be 10 weeks long. \nMODULE ONE: Starting on Wednesday 8 October running continuously through to the last evening on Wednesday 10 December 2025 \nMODULE TWO: Starting Wednesday 14 January; one week off Wednesday 11 February (school half term); through to last evening on Wednesday 25 March 2026 \nMODULE THREE: Starting Wednesday 15 April running continuously through to last evening of the Bible Course year on Wednesday 17 June 2026 \n  \nModule One: ‘The time has come’ \nIn this module we survey all 27 books of the New Testament. Starting with the 4 Gospels and Acts\, as we look at the life of Jesus and the early years of the church\, and then moving on to the 22 letters that make up the rest of the New Testament. We will see how Jesus is the fulfilment of God’s plans for the world. \n  \nWho will be teaching the course? \nThe course will be taught by Dr Millie Bellew\, Dr Peter Crookes and Mr David Manning. \n  \nWhat do we expect from you? \n• There are no exams or assignments. \n• Those who attend are encouraged to read further\, but the most important thing \nis to come regularly with a Bible and a desire to learn more about God’s Word. \n• Certificates will be awarded to participants who attend all three modules for at least 70% of the course. \n• Ideally\, participants should attend all the modules\, but it is possible to sign up \nfor just one or two. \n• Each module costs £30 (payable at the beginning of each module).
